Your Colonic Experience

What to expect

Upon arriving for your first Colon Hydrotherapy session, the Colon Hydrotherapist will ask you to complete a client health questionnaire. Please arrive 10 minutes early so that sufficient time is allowed to complete the questionnaire. We will then escort you to a private Colon Hydrotherapy room.

Expect the session to last approximately 60 minutes. We ask that you be on time to ensure all patients following you may begin at their appointed time. The Colon Hydrotherapist will then explain how to position yourself onto the colonic table and answer any questions before the session.

The therapist will leave the room so that you may privately undress from the waist down. At that point, position yourself on the form-fitted table and gently insert the lubricated, sterile, disposable, rectal tube yourself (about an inch and a half only. Due to careful engineering, it cannot be overly inserted). Cover yourself with the large, hospital grade blanket provided for you. When ready, the therapist will re-enter the room to get you started and instruct, monitor and be available to assist as needed during the session with the press of a call button that is provided for you. As the session begins, purified, temperature-controlled water enters through the rectal tube and into your colon.

When feeling the need to release the water, let it flow out and down the drain into the base of the LIBBE, passing through a four-inch clear viewing tube which is connected to the sewer system. The sensation of releasing the water will occur many times throughout the session. You will also feel the need to urinate during the session. Urination and bowel movements go hand in hand. It's hard to do one without the other. An odor exhaust system built into the device, ensures that the private room remains odorless.

There will be a spray nozzle for you to cleanse yourself following the colonic allowing you to feel clean and fresh to go on with your days activities. After each session, the unit is cleaned and disinfected by our staff to ensure your safety. All of the equipment used during the Colon Hydrotherapy session is FDA approved.

Preparation

It is important to prepare the body before experiencing a Colon Hydrotherapy Session:

DO NOT EAT ANYTHING 1 HOUR PRIOR TO YOUR HYDROTHERAPY SESSION.

*Eliminate spicy, greasy foods or any food that can create gas prior to your session. Gas may cause discomfort during the session.

*It is important that the body be well hydrated for the session. All healthy liquids, juice, and smoothies are allowed, however we recommend water, so please drink plenty of it prior to your appointment. Anything with caffeine is not recommended, since it dehydrates the body.

The general rule is drink half of your body weight in ounces of water (e.g., weigh 200 lbs., drink 100 ounces of water) on a daily basis. The best first thing to touch your lips in the morning is water. 32oz is suggested, with a little fresh lemon juice. You can sip your water quickly but gulping it down is not recommended.

Once again, do not eat anything 1 hour prior to your hydrotherapy session.

Q & A:

WHAT IS A COLONIC/COLON HYDROTHERAPY

A colonic is a very gentle, and very effective method of cleaning out the colon using highly purified water. The colon, large intestine, or bowel is the last 5 to 6 feet of the digestive system.

IS A COLONIC UNCOMFORTABLE?

Colon Hydrotherapy is a relaxing process of taking and releasing water according to your body’s natural rhythms. You might experience gas or cramping during your colonic. If this happens, simply turn off the flow of water until you release pressure. Once comfortable, turn on the flow of water and continue with your cleanse.

WILL I NEED A PRESCRIPTION TO GET A COLONIC?

Yes. In the State of Texas, prescriptions are required. If you do not have any pre-existing conditions and/or under the care of a Physician for chronic illnesses, our Medical Director will provide the prescription.

ISN’T A COLONIC EMBARRASSING?

You insert the rectal tube while we give you privacy. The tube is about the diameter of a pencil and is only inserted 1-1/2 to 2 inches. It was engineered to prevent insertion past 2 inches. When you have inserted the tube and are completely covered, we come back into the room and begin your colonic. Reminder: you are completely covered during your session and your dignity and modesty is totally respected.

DOESN’T AN ENEMA DO THE SAME THING?

An enema allows you to clean the sigmoid colon and can reach higher but is not always possible. The sigmoid is approximately the last 10-12 inches of the large intestine. You could miss about 4-5 feet of the colon.

WHAT IF I’M ON MY CYCLE?

Many people choose to do colonics during their cycle. Colon Hydrotherapy may release abdominal pressure that might build up while menstruating. The colon actually wraps around the uterus and Colon Hydrotherapy may help relieve bloating, cramps and other menstrual discomfort. We ask that you remove your feminine product right before your session begins.

WILL COLON HYDROTHERAPY DISRUPT THE NATURAL BALANCE OF INTESTINAL FLORA IN MY COLON?

No. The majority of your good bacteria is in the small intestine, and we are only cleansing the large intestine. Nothing can enter the small intestine from the large intestine because of the way your body is designed. Even in a very healthy colon, there is a natural balance of beneficial and pathological bacteria that is essential to digestion and ideal function.

DOES COLON HYDROTHERAPY CREATE DEPENDENCE? IS IT HABIT FORMING?

One of the most important benefits of Colon Hydrotherapy is that it exercises the colon (a tubular muscle), which may help improve normal function. Also, Colon Hydrotherapy is a completely natural removal process using water only (no chemicals) and there are no suctions or vacuums involved in the release process. We use an OPEN SYSTEM. The water is gravity fed so it gently flows into the bowel. Cleansing your colon is like taking your colon to the gym...it tones and stimulates the muscle part of the colon which enhances the peristalsis function.

HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE RECOMMENDED?

Your colon is not completely emptied with one session. You will notice benefits from your session and will release fecal material. What is left behind after first session has become hydrated and will soften making it easier to eliminate. You will stay in a state of hydration for approximately 7 days. For best results, come back within 7 days of your first session and the softened fecal material will be eliminated as well as your colon muscle strengthened and stimulated. The number of sessions varies according to the condition of the colon and a person’s general health and health goals. Each person’s body is different.

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

Unfortunately, we do not take insurance. If your insurance company covers colonics, or you have a Flexible Spending Account (Flex) or Health Savings Account (HSA), we will be happy to provide you with a detailed receipt.

IS IT LIKE A COLONOSCOPY?

No. Colon Hydrotherapy gently cleanses the colon. During a Colonoscopy, your doctor will use a scope to look deeply in your colon and make a diagnosis based on their findings. Colon Hydrotherapists are not medical doctors, thus, we do not treat, diagnose or prescribe.

WILL I LOSE WEIGHT?

While there can be temporary weight loss benefit to colonics, they aren’t an effective long-term weight loss strategy. Colonics can help with weight loss, when used together with diet and exercise. We are more concerned about you creating a healthy environment for your body through healthy choices.

HOW WILL I FEEL AFTER MY COLONIC?

Some people have increased energy, feel lighter, and have a flatter tummy. And some people feel tired. It depends on your digestion and your health. Either way, you may sleep well that night. And when the body is tired it’s probably telling you to lay down so it can do its healing process.

WILL I HAVE TO BE IN THE BATHROOM ALL DAY?

Not likely. You should be fine to go about your normal routine for the rest of the day.

ARE “ELECTROLYTE MINERALS” WASHED OUT?

As with regular bowel movements, there is some mineral elimination. These minerals are easily replaced at the next meal. The kidneys and liver are the organs in charge of balancing minerals. They become “tired” by intestinal intoxication. Consider that cleansing might facilitate and improve their ability to manage and utilize minerals.
